cafe filament AI Content Policy
0. Basic Policy
Never let customers feel that something differs from the real thing. This is the foundation of every rule below. We welcome AI as a tool for efficiency, but we do not use it for anything that represents the actual reality of our shop. When in doubt, choose not to use it.
1. No AI-Generated Images to Depict the Actual Store
Rule: We do not use AI-generated images for the interior, actual menu items, or introductions of our facilities and services. These must always be real photographs.
Reason: Fabricating an interior or products that differ from reality risks being treated as a misleading representation under Japan's Act against Unjustified Premiums and Misleading Representations. This eliminates any risk of customers feeling it was "different from the real thing."
2. No AI-Generated People
Rule: We do not use AI-generated people in any of our materials, including depictions of staff, customers, or usage scenes. When a person is needed, we use an actual photograph taken with that person's consent.
Reason: If a nonexistent person is taken to be a "customer" or "staff member," it misrepresents the reality of the shop. We also cannot rule out the risk that a generated face happens to resemble a real person.
3. Scope of AI Images Usable in Official Communications
Rule: In official communications such as social media, the official website, and in-store signage, we do not use AI-generated images as "photographs." The only images we may use are ones that do not depict anything real, such as:
- Abstract backgrounds, patterns, or decorations
- Illustrations conveying a seasonal or event mood
- Illustrations in a style that could not be mistaken for the real thing
Conversely, we do not use the following even as decoration:
- Anything that looks like our store's interior or exterior
- Anything that looks like our menu items or drinks
- Anything depicting a person (as in Rule 2)
- Anything photorealistic and indistinguishable from a photograph
Reason: AI images contain elements that do not exist in reality, so treating them as official photographs undermines the shop's credibility. We limit their use to supporting the mood and never use them to explain the actual reality.
4. Checking Text, Logos, and Designs
Rule: We do not use text (lettering) generated by AI within an image as-is. It must always be removed and re-set using a font with clearly licensed use. Any logos, characters, or anything resembling a trademark that appears in the image must be removed in the same way.
Reason: We cannot rule out the possibility that AI-generated text or marks infringe on the rights of existing fonts or logos. We only use elements whose safety has been confirmed.
5. Recommended Use for Drafts and Rough Concepts
Rule: We recommend using AI for poster composition drafts, video structure drafts, and brainstorming. Final deliverables are finished by hand or with actual store photographs.
Reason: This lowers the cost of starting from scratch while avoiding legal risk and maintaining quality.
6. Restrictions on What You May Input into AI
Rule: Do not upload or input the following into AI tools:
- Photographs of customers, or customers' personal information
- Photographs of staff members' faces (except with that person's consent)
- Unpublished plans, pricing, or information about business partners
Reason: Content you input may be used for the service's training or storage. This rule prevents you from passing on information entrusted to you by others to an outside party based on your own judgment.
7. Tools We Use
Rule: The AI tools used at our shop are as follows. If you want to use a tool not on this list, please consult the manager.
- Claude Code
- Claude Design
- Codex
- Adobe Firefly
- Gemini
Reason: Standardizing the tools we use lets the shop confirm and manage rights and commercial-use terms collectively. The manager confirms the contract and terms of use for each tool.
8. Do Not Delete Generation Logs
Rule: Do not delete, on your own judgment, the chat history or generation logs created when producing materials with AI. This applies even when an account is shared.
Reason: This makes it possible to trace back how something was made if a question or concern is raised later. There is no need to create separate records — simply leave the history that remains in the tool as it is.
9. Confirmation Before Publication
Rule: Materials created using AI go through a check by the manager or the deputy manager before being published or posted. If the manager or deputy manager created it themselves, the other one checks it.
Reason: A human check is always placed as the final gate, to prevent unnatural depictions unique to AI and to catch any unintended rights infringement that might otherwise be overlooked.
10. When In Doubt
If you cannot decide, do not publish it and consult the manager. You will never be held responsible for withholding judgment. The real problem is publishing something while still unsure.
11. Review
This policy will be reviewed as needed in response to changes in AI technology and related laws. Anyone who notices something worth raising is welcome to suggest it to the manager.
